About Us

This page a little of the history of BB Mame.

The BB Mame project started Monday, October 15, 2001. I started BB Mame because I wanted to have a compilation of MAME for Windows that would run ONLY Taito's Bub and Bob series of arcade games, because I keep getting tired of waiting 30+ minutes for the latest MAME binaries to download to test out the games(I have only a 28.8K connection). I have been working with C++ programming a little bit, so I thought, "Well, why not try!" So I downloaded the MAME for Windows source code, along with the needed tools, and got to work. After a while of editing the driver file, checking and rechecking, compiling and fixing problems, the compilation was ready. Now came the hard part. Getting everything organized. I was able to set up readme file rather fast, and some other things, and then I needed to edit the cheat.dat file to reduce file sizes. I edited the second latest file (because Pugsy asked not to edit the latest file in any way), and for the newer cheats in the new cheat file, I simply copied and pasted the new cheats into the older file. It was ready! Now, I needed to get some other things taken care of, like getting a page for it. I wasn't sure where to go, but I thought of emuunlim.org. I applied for a hosting, and after a little while, there it was! What you see now, is the result of some hard work by various people (the MAME team for the emu in the first place, The_Fox for the sub-domain, Malc Jennings for the page design, and my cousin J.C. for encouragement) On Friday, April 19, 2002, I was able to finally compile a successful make of Mame32, and since Sunday, April 21, 2002, it has replaced the Command prompt versions, thus becoming the TRUE BB Mame I had hoped to make in the first place.
